Help for Dry and Damaged Hair
Did you know you have approximately 100,000 hairs on your head? That is a lot to take care of, particularly if you have dry, damaged hair. Keep in mind that today’s water is not rain water, it is damaging in and of itself to your hair! Water is chlorinated and there are so many chemicals in it, it can be damaging to your hair.
Once you leave your house, your hair is exposed to wind, the sun and any other pollutants that are in the air. Also, if you swim the chlorinated pool water can be particularly damaging to your locks. Also, if you participate in any sports, chances are you shampoo more than once a day, which can damage your hair.
Irregardless, you are left with dry, damaged hair. Alas, there is a cure!
Allow your hair some natural oils by shampooing very other day. This will help tremendously in reducing the effects of damage.
Use a mild shampoo that is specifically designed for dry, damaged hair. There are so many! You may want to try a few different ones, until you find one that works for you.
Always use a conditioner. If you condition your hair it provides a lubricant that prevents fly away hair and makes your hair more manageable and silky.
Actually, the best hair treatment may be in your refrigerator. There are natural treatments such as mayonnaise and beer that really work! Use these products like a conditioner and allow them to set in your hair for approximately five minutes.
Heat and sun are probably the most detrimental causes of damaged hair. There are a variety of heated styling products such as blow dryers, curling irons, flat irons and even heated rollers. Try to minimize the use of these products. Go natural! The quickest, easiest, safest way to style your hair is to add a little hair gel or mousse and you are off! No mess and no fuss!
If you are at the beach wear a hat or in the pool, wear a cap. Any exposure to the natural elements such as wind, sun or water, will harm your hair.
If all else fails, you may want to consider a trip to your stylist. There are professional styling products that will work quickly and easily on your hair.
If this is not affordable buy an intense conditioning treatment at your local drug store or beauty supply store. Follow the directions carefully. Usually, you are required to keep the treatment in your hair for 15-20 minutes. This alone, will improve the overall texture and condition of your hair tremendously.
Also consider your diet. Drink plenty of water and eat raw fruits. If you stay hydrated, so will your hair. If you are healthy, most likely your hair will be too!
